Nesr Kujahn began his career as a drummer of Rock and Fusion groups during the late 70‘s. Since that time he went through Gypsy-music from Balkan and Turkey – and met the Darbuka in 1980. In the mid 80’s he had visit Cairo the first time in order to find out more about the Darbuka, which is also known as tabla. He met Prf. Mahmoud Hamoda, an old distinguished master of Arabian tabla. He taught Nesr Kujahn the way of playing tabla with soft and very classical but sovereign technique. Nesr Kujahn - Lars Buka - U1CD-2033-2

With regard of the great demand Balaha Records re-released the productions 'Oriental Grooves Vol. 1' and 'Vol. 2'. Both parts include the relevant rhythms recorded with up to three different tempi and with various kinds of playing (Darbouka combined with other percussion). Every piece is around five minutes long and supports with its regularity the training of the combinations of steps and the orientation inside of the djungel of rhythms. In this case these complementarly CD's are ideal for reasons of lessons and self-studies. Sayed Balaha - Oriental Grooves - |

This CD features exotic instruments from many cultures reinterpreted in a uniquely American context. "A Western performance aesthetic coupled with contemporary improvisation and a global sound palate. That's what we have here in the US now; a tradition of finding and expressing your own sound amongst so many influences from other cultures" says folk-jazzman N. Scott Robinson. N. T.M. Stevens skill and proficiency as a bassist, vocalist & sideman is legendary. His ferocious, yet melodic, style of bass is as unique as his larger than life persona. In demand as a session player, he is as at ease in the studio, (where he can call upon his many years of experience and formal musical training) as he is behind a mike on stage, releasing his special brand of rock, funk and manic soul. | Phaeder is a long-time Buddhist with a profound mastery of deep voice chanting. Over the past five years, and much to the amusement of the Buddhist Lamas, he has married this with his German electronic roots. The result is outstanding. He fires up the world music scene, complimenting his bass tonal deep voice singing with strong, chant-based pop structure, Peter developed the LOTUS Beat compilation series inviting world music artists Joshna La Trobe and EastTranz West to participate. | The band’s co-founder, Tormenta Jobarteh, grew up in Munich and studied drums at the local Dante Augustini Institute. He toured Europe, Asia and the US with various musical ensembles until 1987 when he made the acquaintance of musicians from Gambia. They invited him for a visit to their small West African country, which is virtually enveloped by Senegal. | Each tune on the album has ist own life and speaks ist own truth, says Fran Allen. In classic Lonie Walker from, the tunes tell their stories in breathtaking variety of styles. Even Lonie’s trademark rock / soul / funk / jazz / blues isn’t broad enough to cover all the elements on the album. Although it defies characterization, the album maintains a distinctive unifying feel. It is quite simply pure Lonie. |
"Passion" is a repertoire of original compositions that combine the best of latin, blues, jazz and rock crossing genres to create a truly penetrating collection. Drawing inspiration from the heart, Hmura expresses international musical influences in pieces that revive the soul, inspire tears and groove the body. He creates a fresh sound with moving precision and virtuoso musicianship. Hmura's guitar speaks for his heart what mere words cannot express. |
