CHIHA  - - U1CD 2029-2 Eurabic popmusic, the first time with German lyrics! "Smokey-delicate vocal-poetry of a powerful woman!" "A lioness in an Assfah*!" At the end of the last millenium, CHIHA was born in the south of Tunesia. During her vocal studies, she learned about Arabic-Andalousian traditions and the art of the Nubat. She performed countless tours, TV and radio broadcasts which introduced her to the public both in Tunesia and abroad. Her love of a "strange man" brought her to Germany. Today she lives in Karlsruhe. After regular concerts, she is known in the south of Germany. During the last years, she found out, that "the kids don't know, what to do with her music". That's the reason why, she had the idea to make contemporary arrangments for her songs. In spring 2000, she recorded seven of her favorite songs - two in German language - and asked the German friends of her daughter Sonya to arrange the music. Under the leadership of Berlin's drummer Matthias Trippner (Shank, RAD, Groove Unlimited...) they came up with a very special blend of Arabic-Andalousian traditions mixed with modern European dance music, a version of Arabic popmusic with elements from Drum'n'Bass and House. *) a powerful storm in the Sahara With her songs, CHIHA thanks all the people who have supported her.
