Psychedelic Africa - Coffie - U1CD-2002
On his debut album, Coffie Nelson shows his mastery mixing diverse accoustic
and cultural elements that would normally never be combined. This
African-European pop-production is a true adventure that came to fruition
on a brave journey that begin with clearing away cultural misunderstandings,
then delving into one year of creative chaos. Throughout all thirteen tracks,
Coffie sings about "life before death" (topics range from the "little difference"
between men and women in "Yeredziawu" to "Monkey Biz" and "Elephant"). In
his duet "Loving Point" (w/ Donna Rene), Coffie searches for one simple point
of cosmic transition free of culture, religion and traditional views of the
world. Coffie Nelson's album "Psychedelic Africa" is a cosmic journey,
independent of any known philosophy, that enhances pure human feelings with
respect.
